Choosing a good background is very helpful for keeping focus on your intended subject. Take a car out to a place with no distracting things in the background and mess around with different angles and stuff.

I live in NYC, trust me I know clutter. Even if it’s a concrete wall or something, it will work better than having the car parked on the street outside your house. Seems like the photo is more of afterthought at that point...
